"As a senior engineer I have good chance to work to best of my technical ability and scope to develop myself as per the work demands."
"The senior engineer had non-critical systems that were taking priority over our deliverable, though I was able to complete these as well as the critical systems to the recipients on time. The final product was delivered bug-free and robust with all features working to spec."
"Very interesting work but not enough time in any schedule to really take it all in. A majority of the project managers are stressed out and treat employees with disrespect and sometimes disdain when schedules slip to the right. From a security aspect, the work can be challenging when there is a strict 'need to know' policy when determining how and what to write in design specifications and requirements documents. Not properly classifying or handling TS docs can cost you your job."
"Loved being able to be on my own and be able to pursue the kind of work that I enjoy doing not only for a living but also enjoy doing for fun as well."
"I love the power of Node.js. It is to the year 2014 as PHP was to the year 1999. It is the largest step forward in web application development since AJAX. I think the industry will find that despite Node.js' current praise, there is still more to give it credit for. For one, people commonly say Node.js isn't good for CPU intensive tasks. But, if you understand Node.js, and the OS on which you run it (which should be Linux), Node.js can shine as a computational master and not just an IO master."
"I derived satisfaction with my job because I was able to directly serve the public by keeping my systems working."
"I liked the diversity there. The wide range of work was very nice."
"Harmonic Inc offers competetive compensation for the deserving candidates."
"Love the work, don't like the 0 or 1% raises."
"The pay at Entergy is competitive for me. Entergy payed a premium to bring me in. I find the work to be fulfilling in that I am responsible for the safety of 200000 people in the State of Michigan, but I am dissatisfied in the fact that the level of technical work I am doing is similar to that I was doing in 1999."
"I love the job flexibility, pay, and creativity in the creation of new systems, automation of mundane tasks."
"I am good at what I do. It is a problem-solving field. That will always be fun."
"I love what I do. I can't think of much else I'd rather be doing than analyzing, designing, writing and fixing code on software projects. It's really fun, and great to see it all working when you are done. You're always finding new things to try and new ways to improve your software and methods."
Please give us a one liner to describe this review.
"High expectation starting, disappointing after learning inside story, wasted time!"
What do you like about working at ARRIS Group?
"OK opportunity for beginning engineers but limited opportunity for the experienced. There are a few good coworkers who are not solely out for themselves. The merge with Motorola Home may bring a fresh breeze in management for Arris with positive influence in changing the current self centered vs a new team culture."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"make sure you understand the position you signing up for because they have a tendency to over misrepresent their job opportunities."
What don't you like about working at ARRIS Group?
"Limited opportunity for highly talented software/hardware engineers, everyman for himself work culture supported by management reminiscent of Roman Forum with common back stabbing by the Brutus in the group"
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Upper management removed from lower management and their lack of training and skills in managing staff. Generally management are politically appointed engineers with no management schooling/training. Hire/promote management with true people skills not just engineering skills."
