"The govenment is checking into abuse charges at this time"

What do you like about working at Schwan's?

"They have the right idea about how to do things. But what they tell you is fictional. Your pay is both bonus and commission. When you log onto the computer you earn $50 for the day. When you complete 80% of your stops on time, then you earn another $50. The problem is that when you are allowed only 4 minutes to service a customer and need to process a link card, it takes an additional 4 to 4 1/2 minutes to process the call. If you lose your personal cell phone signal while processing the link card you must start all over again. You have have to try to process the same link card 2, 3, 4 times or more depending on the cell phone signal from the cell phone that you own. That's right. You have to also supply your own cell phone. The company also saves money this way. If you do not make 80% of your stops on time you lose $50 for the day. You also earn 1% on commissions up to $800 and then the commission goes up. But if you earn $50 for logging onto the computer, you lose $50 in bonus because the daily schedule does not all enough time to make the required stops or someone has set up false address in the g.p.s. that do not exist or if the set the g.p.s. for a location that is perhaps 1/2 to 1 mile away from the correct address location then you will not make 80% of your stops because you have no idea where they are. But you do earn 1% on sales up to $800. That is great!!! You sell $800 worth of product and you earn 8 cents, before taxes. So by the end of the day you have actually grossed $50 for logging onto the computer, You may have sold $600 worth of product and earned 6 cents (gross pay). This is wonderful. But do not forget to deduct the cost of the cell phone that you have to purchase to use on your job with Schwan's."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"PLEASE learn how to read interviewers. This will not only help you learn the truth yourself about Schwan's, but help when interviewing with other companies."

What don't you like about working at Schwan's?

"This is covered in the statement above. I am so upset with Schwan's that I cannot stand it. Everyone needs to check the internet for sites that employees and customers have posted. YOU WILL BE SHOCKED AT WHAT YOU LEARN."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Management is aware of the problems and has demonstrated that they do not care. There is nothing that anyone can suggest to management or anyone else if they do not care what they are told. After all they are management and who cares what an employee says or thinks, unless it is publicly made comments like this that tell what is going on at Schwan's."

What do you like about working at Schwan's?

"I had control over my work schedule and where I cold-called. My goal was to double the depot's annual sales by December 2012. The depot was operating at a $200k/ year loss. The company closed about 50 non producing depots cross country the last several months. It was unfortunate the Cumberland depot was closed because we were just making headway. Schwan's offers excellent food and service."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Never pre-judge prospects and clients. Know your products and offer your clients products that will benefit their family. Push clients towards pre-orders on-line to more effectively complete sales calls and maximize work hours."

What don't you like about working at Schwan's?

"It was the most inefficient business I have ever worked for. The policies and procedures of the company allowed employees to distort their performance and activity numbers to the point the company's sales were in a constant decline for over five years. The unethical practices among co-workers I came across with were unbelievable. Employees were over worked and taken advantage of for what they were paid and ineffective training did not lend to them being more efficient and productive increasing their sales. There was little management support for drivers/ salesmen during their day to day delivery sales calls."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I explained my suggestions to HR when the company sent representatives to meet with us upon closure. Training in sales and use of Hand Held Computer needs to be improved for new-hires. More hands on training and more drive time with depot manager needs to take place. Better metrics control of personal achievement needs to be implemented. Clients need to be educated on benefits of pre-ordering product to minimize in-the-home time during deliveries (typical wait time while client flips through catalog while driver is waiting is around 15 minutes, then product has to be pulled from truck)."
