"Safeway is an amazing company with lots of opportunity for future advancement. I worked there for 13 years and received several promotions. It was a wonderful place with several career opportunities due to my hard work and dedication. I loved getting up in the morning knowing that the work was varied. The people were positive and re-inforced a great customer service oriented approach."

"I have worked for Safeway for almost 30 years and have never been so used and mistreated in my life . I was a department head the whole time. It takes asst mngr that doesn't like you to destroy your career. Now after all the years and exceptional evals I am almost out of work due to the minimum wage help. Truly sad to screw an employe that cared. Beware the lies and backstabbing! You're replaceable. My replacement gets 20 more hours a week to run the department than I . Pays if they're best friends."

"I have worked for Safeway for two years and I'd say it's ok. They only way to be guaranteed full time employment is if you are a part of management. I'm also not very fond of how their pay raise system works; you have to become a checker in order to receive raises."

"I have worked for Safeway for the past 18 months. One thing I can assure you of, is that they do not care about their employees, they only care about the bottom line. This company has two types of employees: those that have worked there for years and their old union contracts and wages are so good that they are well set up until retirement. The other type of employee gets so frustrated at the poor wage scale that they turnover quickly."
