"I love the data division that I work in because of it's unique role in the industries that it supports."

"I dislike that the company was formed by M&A and doesn't operate smoothly without the knowledge experience between the business units."

"Communication internally should improve across functional departments for the mutual benefit of the company, its employees, and its customers."

"Having project responsibilities, very cool digital media product kept us on the bleeding edge of new technology and one can learn a lot from the CEO."

"Good place to work. Especially if you're into digital media."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Management is a skill. One has to be trained for it. When a company promotes a developer to a management position that person should be prepared to handle the new skill set that is required for management."

"Hard place to work as a developer. Everyone works support, constant switching of tasks, and no leadership above leads."

What do you like about working at Rovi?

"They were basically a bunch of Patent trolls who cared little about helping customers."

"Go look someplace else unless you really need the job."

What don't you like about working at Rovi?

"Dictatorial management style, factional competition between departments and regional offices for power."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Put the customer first and listen to feedback from employees."

"Like many companies, much of first-level management needs to focus more on leadership skills and not just management skills.As far as the company, they tried to focus on a new brand and strategy, but it didn't work out as strongly as hoped given how weak the market was. The company had great benefits and a good salary."

"Very flexible work attitude, with good co-workers, and genuine manages."

"Prepare by knowing what the company does, and be interested in the products."

What don't you like about working at Rovi?

"Lack of career path, and uncertainty due to multiple takeovers, and now we are simply remote office with few senior managers on site."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Listen to employees asking for better indication of career path within the company, instead of panic reaction when somebody leaves for a better position."

"I contracted at DigiForge, implementing a big section of the EBIF standard, which Comcast bought in 2010. I was treated well."

"I've been with Rovi for just over two years, the first 6 months as a contractor. Initially, Rovi was a positive experience and was improving over the years. In the last year or so, Rovi has lost its way. Executives are out of touch with the rank and file, there are constant organizational changes, and there's no clear vision. Benefits are good, however."
