"The long long hours and the companies plan for making money"

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I suggest that management works more on getting what the customer wants and needs, and not on grading your employees on how much they can sell to one customer and making it a part of their employment status."

"The environment at work is profound, with great people and great customers. They sell decent products and have extensive sales training that works."

"A bit more flexibility in time for the workers would be a plus."

"I was asked to troubleshoot and fix problems with my store that I was not certified to handle."

"Follow the guidelines to the T and document everything to corporate."

"I would say the only point of working at RadioShack I enjoy is the customer demographic. Being able to help people set phones/electronics up is the key point of this company. I admire how RadioShack strives for customer service. If only they'd direct some of that appreciation/effection towards their employees."

"If you're a high school student, and have absolutely zero responsibilities or bills, then this job is perfect!If you have an apartment to pay for, then you're going to need a secondary job or income method."

What don't you like about working at RadioShack?

"RadioShack is too focused on no product sales, i.e. replacement plans. Some of these plans seem to cost almost half of the price of the item they're buying ( $7.99 for one year of protection on $15 headphones). On top of that, if we don't sell a certain percentage of replacement plans we are penalized. The micromanagment is atrocious. I should not be reprimanded by more than one person for a 15-minute tardy. For this company to become a pleasant work place in my market, there needs to be some changes in management and the expectations of sales associates."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would suggest employee appreciation. To me it feels like RadioShack holds no appreciation towards its lower level employees. This baffles me, seeing that other than paperwork, we do most of the work to keep the store functioning. A qualified store manager should know this already. It seems, however, that none of them do."

"I was allowed to use my own creativity when interacting with customers at RadioShack, and because of this I learned a lot from my customers."

"It's retail. They like to hire management from the outside, and getting a promotion is like pulling teeth. There is not enough stimulation or challenges."

"Have more of an active role in daily business, and hold your employees to the same standards."

"There are only 2 holidays off a year, and employee benefits are off."

"At times, the stress to have to hit daily, weekly, and monthly sales goals was a bit overwhelming."

"Sometimes our sales were driven by fear for our job. I believe that you should use encouragement to drive your people to excel to sell, not drive-by threats or fear for your job."

"I don't like the layoffs at RadioShack. There's always a cloud looming with regards to who's going to be next or when the next layoff will be."

"I would suggest not so many layoffs, which make for an uncomfortable work environment."

"It was an easy commute, and the job itself was a great one. I liked working in the department."

"I didn't like the benefits at RadioShack. The benefits were too pricey and not very good."

"Nothing really, aside from the fact that my direct manager failed to escort me or say anything at layoff time. It was done very cold-like."
