"Poor management, strange job, only if you really need the money."

What do you like about working at Santa Cruz County?

"It was better than working for the Dept. of Homeland Security. That's not saying much."

What don't you like about working at Santa Cruz County?

"Lack of training for a very unique job. Lack of mature management. No performance review process. Management makes their decisions on hearsay. Expectations of 60+ hour weeks for civil service pay."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Communicate with your employees. Get both sides of an issue. Work with employees to help them improve their performance, give them reviews. Develop a realistic training program that provides facts, procedures, and real-world based manuals. Too much is left to feel and it's your job to figure it out approaches."

"Within 10 miles from house, good benefits (vacations, health insurance), Like to work in a team."

"No professional growth for IT people being manufacturing company. Company was spending too much for customer service after delivering material which increase overhead."

"Company should decrease overhead."

"I like the fact that it is close to home. I like the structure. The staff are awesome. Faculty are polished and professional."

What don't you like about working at The University of Southern Mississippi?

"Not a lot of opportunity to advance. No additional pay with work required. It is a state university and pay raises are few and far between no matter what additional duities you are given."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"There really isn't must they can do about the pay since it hinges on state revenues. I think overall they are doing the best they can."
