"After the company moved its main engineering function to Conn. local opportunities were limited."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"The management at Pratt and Whiney is excellent, I would only suggest that it put more effort into instrumentation engineering."

"Talk about feeling smart! I was new to IT helpdesk and I had aerospace engineers calling for help, for something as simple as resetting a password. Crazy I know but kind of kept me interested in IT helpdesk for the next 5 years."

"Just do a great job and have fun."

What don't you like about working at Pratt & Whitney?

"Nothing really. Just moved back to Illinois from Florida. I know, why move from Florida to Illinois? Sick mother."

"Keep the contract rolling to keep the employees employed."

"The work was a learning experience and very rewarding. Most of the co-workers are very professional."

"Listen to your coworkers and work hard."

What don't you like about working at Pratt & Whitney?

"They never have time for you to complete a job correctly, but always have time to go back and redo it the way it should have been done the first time. The next time the same job comes up you only have half the time to do it cause management has added another person's job to yours, because they laid off someone else."

"If someone is happy with the work they are performing, don't look for ways to make them unhappy with the work and conditions of the working environment."

"They are out of business. Work was Top Secret DOD."

"Everyone is a number since it was a large company."

"My intent was to be a design / structural engineer at Pratt but, I was placed in a Fast Track program that placed me in the Project engineer position."

"The ability to work on world class rocket and gas turbine engines was satisfying."

"Be ready for anything."

"Large companies like Pratt have the power to close entire facilities forcing employees to relocate to undesirable locations."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Don't lie to employees. When I took the structural engineer position in gas turbines, I asked about the relocation topic. I was told that has been a rumor since the 1970's only to be told that my job was moving to Hartford by the same person I just quoted."

"It was a blast. Bosses and team leaders, sometimes, could suck."

"Being denied the opportunity to work as a contractor doing the same job Pratt had me doing prior to the transfer of all the work to CT."

"Get OUT of the way!"
