"Great company with flexible hours and compensation. it is a great way to learn about automotive maintenance, repair, and service procedures. Really fun work environment and a hands-on way to learn in the field"
"I’ve been with Pepboys Automotive for 2 years as a mechanic and a service writer. The people that work for the company are the best imaginable. However when the aspect of policy and corporate structure comes into play a lot is left wanted. With all that being said there is no way I wouldn’t recommend people to work for the company if they’re able to look past the consistent push to over achieve while compensation isn’t matching the effort placed in."
"You get out what you put in. Be prepared to put in a lot of time above and beyond."
"A fair company that looks after their employees like a family."
"Great company to work for. Upper management supports mangers and other employees. Pay structure is competitive. It’s just like any other retail job. Except management in this company has grown to benefit employees and customers"
"Customers are not fooled, they know we are not running like other auto service stores and we fail over and over. We do not update the web pricing and mislead available product selection ( bait and switch ) basically everyone that uses the site can see it doesn't function well. There is no desire among management to fix and poor morale too."
"I worked for Pep Boys for many years, had its ups and downs but recently company was sold to Icahn Enterprises. This is an investment company, they do not care about people."
"Don't think about it, you will regret your decision. Poor company who cares more about their stockholders than taking care of their employees. Very reactive to problems instead of being pro active."
"I like the people I work with but the company has outdated systems and processes in many areas. The industry is pretty flat and status quo is accepted. Execution of goals is difficult and time-consuming due to the amount of approvals needed. Not very progressive. Some people make excuses for poor performance and it is tolerated by leadership. Engagement is lacking."
"I have been with Pep Boys for one year. It is a good company that has many challenges in front of them. I have added numerous accounts to my territory with an 85% increase over last yrs numbers at this time. Currently I am at 56% increase year to date. Some things I would need to do my job more efficiently I do not have access to. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being a great, I give Pep Boys a 7. I have built great relationships with all of my store managers, my immediate supervisor also."
"I have worked for Pep Boys for more then half a dozen years, the benefits are alright, the pay for sales associates seems highly sub par. While my boss and my co workers are excellent recently, working conditions and relations with those above store level have become atrocious.I have lost all faith and trust of management above regular store level."
"I've been with Pep Boys for over 15 years and I must say the company has been good to me over the years. Like anything in life, there are both positives and negatives but some of the positives are a competitive wage and better than average benefits. Overall, it has been a good experience for me here and I would recommend Pep Boys to anyone considering them as an employer."
"Grew HUGE sales and got pushed aside"
