"Closing deals and working with different clients. The traveling was good but I am traveling 90."

"Deals take forever to close. Deals are around 10 to 12 months."

"Top-down management, very hierarchical, cover your ass."

What do you like about working at Oracle?

"Good location, good benefits. Company not likely to go out of business soon. Poor pay, no bonuses, raises are rare (negotiate hard at the beginning)."

"Each work group varies a lot, many are acquired companies, so research the specific group and its staff well; this is a company where people value following orders above good product or customer service - ensure you like your boss, they have incredible control over your success."

What don't you like about working at Oracle?

"Hierarchical, innovation discouraged, little personal control over work tasks, micro-management."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Set clear and measurable product goals - then let employees self-direct towards goals; provide management training to all managers; move towards measurable work product and away from anecdotes and favoritism for salary and reviews; encourage innovation; treat employees fairly; add job rotations so employees don't get stale doing same limited job for 10+ years."
