"Oracle is a great and strong financially sound company. They have locations worldwide and is one of the major players in the software industry today. Larry Ellison the CEO has put forth the effort to make sure Oracle stays on top and continues to grow. He is committed to being number 1 and the money/resources to make that happen."
"Good company to work for. I've been with them for 13 years and they have treated me fairly."
"In recent years, Oracle has eliminated almost all positive reinforcements for their employees: few raises (not even cost of living), few bonuses, few stock options. Morale is low, but people stay because the benefits are good (other than vacation) and the economy is bad. There is a lot of inequity within the organization regarding things like hardware, training, travel. Some groups do very well; others do not. For gaining in depth technical experience, it is one of the best, however."
"I worked for Oracle on two separate occasions, both in the same role for the same boss. From a consultant's perspective, it is a huge, impersonal company with so many levels that it is hard to figure out how exactly things work. There are groups aligned by product and others aligned by industry. There are solution architects that that don't work directly for the group implementing the solution. Sales is not tied to aligning with internal consulting resources and may prefer outside partners."
"I am working on Oracle Exadata since 2011, one of the newest technologies on the market."
"I have worked for Oracle for over ten years. It is a stable company with good products and positioned well in the industry. It is growing currently more in India and Mexico. Remuneration is good when you join first time, up to market standards. But as you stay longer raise, bonus, stock options etc reduce. This is company policy."
"I have worked in OFSS for 4 years in the Product Development Division of Oracle Banking Platform and each day came up with a new challenge. Good people to work with and they always push you to your limits to get the best out of you"
"Good company. Best quality of work. New technology hands-on experience."
"Unsure of the company direction for it's consulting division. Good benefits. I have been fortunate to have excellent managers."
"Like working for the government but without the job security or COLAs."
What do you like about working at Oracle?
"Little face time or office presence required, freedom to work however is most productive."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Only do it if you have an exit strategy including timing and the will and ability to stick to it, or don't mind stagnation, in work, comp, and otherwise."
What don't you like about working at Oracle?
"Extremely bureaucratic, lots of approvals, little if any raises or bonuses except for executive management, who've basically kept all the money in the c-suite. (Your boss telling you there are no raises when your top 3 execs would all be in the top 10 CEOs for pay does not instill a sense of team.)"
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Good people are leaving. It's nigh on impossible to get anything done there, and offshoring is not helping product quality. Lastly, if you think people are going to go the extra mile when performance is obviously not rewarded, that's a big mistake, and if the economy ever picks up again, the people who you wanted to keep *are* holding grudges to the extent they're not leaving already, and will be out the door en masse."
