New York Air Brake Employee

"I have worked for NYAB- Train Dynamics Division since 2009. It is a company that started small with less than 20 employees, and had 31 when I hired in.There was a mind set when I first started, that made you want to work for the company and be a part of the team. What was lacking, and still is lacking, is leadership and vision. No employee retention efforts, no clear and concise instructions, no reward system, no effort to address the lack of leadership. I would not recommend NYAB-TDS"

What don't you like about working at New York Air Brake?

"- Highly stressed out environment. People are fired or let go if you are not your boss's favorite. I have seen people getting fired after taking long vacations.- There is not enough documentation on old and current products making it difficult to understand if you are fairly new to this company.- A lot of red tape for everyday work (for a small/ mid size company).- Given the number of projects currently underway and amount of work we have , the resources are very limited.- There is very little communication between the departments and upper management.- Bad location."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Try not be hard headed. Better managers are required."

What don't you like about working at New York Air Brake?

"Long commute. Company is going through ISO 9001 audits, and they are in denial about how much impact that has on productivity. Procedures are slow and cumbersome, and currently in a state of flux. Cubicle farm is somewhat noisy at times. It often takes several days to get hardware or software items I need to do an assigned task."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"When you promise a fitness facility for the employees, try to get it done in less than a year. You overload your PMs. You need to realize that a major change in process like CMMI or ISO9001 *will* seriously impact productivity."
