What do you like about working at Nortel?
"I only liked one or two co-workers there. The management was totally out of touch with employees' needs, salaries, and benefits and on top of that, once you were laid off, there was no compensation or continuation of benefits say for even a month. There is nothing good I can state at this point about this organization."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Yes. Make sure you do not accept a job with PEC/Nortel just because you do not have any other prospects. Also, make sure that if the client contracts are ended or completed, PEC will not lay you off or at least without any benefits package. Otherwise, do not accept the position no matter how much you need a job."
What don't you like about working at Nortel?
"My manager was foul mouthed all the time. She lacked respect for all and voiced it during status meetings. Bad mouthed her and our boss all the time and for a woman, used profanity way too much. She was also disgruntle as her salary was less than me and kept voicing that in front of other employees which led to extremely bad moral."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Improve your salary and benefits and help employees in getting other positions within the company, especially when the contracts are over or ended abruptly by the clients. Do not leave employees out in the cold to fend themselves. Take a look at your USPTO and DHS contracts and employees, past or current. Respect your employees and provide advancement opportunities to them. Provide a good and fostering environment where employees like coming to work every day."
