"I have worked for Microsoft for 25 years in various roles. As a large company, Microsoft has incredible positives and negatives for working there. Microsoft suffers from heavy middle-management with 'no bad news' mentality. However, the experience overall can be very positive when you find a good team."

You'll work on cutting edge technologies while being paid a fairly competent salary and meet some of the smartest people you will ever come across in your life. The downside to Microsoft is near constant churn. About every 18 months to 3 years expect to be reorganized. You might be working on a project you love today but after the next reorganization you may be on a project that you just can't get passionate about."

Work is interesting, highly strategic, good work life balance however in order to grow fast you have to find those 'high growth' teams at the right time. Also, work is kind of siloed, e.g. typical product management role would be split between technical product management, product marketing management, business planning etc. so in smaller companies you get more variety of challenges."
