4.9I worked with Schering Plough for 9 years before the M&A with Merck in 2009. They are both excellent companies. Their culture, work ethics and uncompromising focus on quality are some of the qualities that endeared me to the company. The company provided employees an opportunity to learn, grow and contribute to the growth of the company. With a first class R&D facility and numerous manufacturing plants, the company had an employee strength of over 10,000 in over 60 countries around the globe.
1.7Not worth the effort, the management is more interested in its clicks and listening to itself talk. You are treated as if you are just a cog in a machine. Benefits are being stripped, policies are overly bureaucratic and inhumane. Company has no pipeline and is going down hill fast. The only way they see to keep revenue going is to lay off and outsource to china and India. Stay away from this company, is not worth the stress and burden it places on your mental and physical health!
Merck Careers & Info
Current CEO: Kenneth Frazier

There are only a few industries that have been in existence for hundreds of years. One of these is the medical pharmaceutical business. Legitimate businesses that have successfully created medication that provides comfort in time of disease have managed to last through good times and bad. One organization that has devoted itself toward the personal well-being of their clientele is Merck & Co. With a core business objective that seeks to improve the health of their clientele, Merck continues to improve lives.
With origins dating back to a drug store that was opened in Darmstadt, Germany in 1668, modern Merck & Co careers are based upon the philosophy held by the founder of the organization, Friedrich Jacob Merck. When Friedrich first opened the doors to this store, he wanted to provide a healthier future for the people in the community. This still holds true today for people that devote their energies working at Merck & Co. The workforce maintains an uncompromising dedication and unwavering commitment toward improving the health of everyone worldwide. This steadfastness toward the people they serve has allowed Merck to continue to operate with integrity and a strong sense of moral responsibility.
Because of the unrelenting nature in striving to make a difference in people’s lives, the Merck culture embraces the contributions that each member of the workforce brings to their profession. Collaborating with others helps each individual experience growth within their field and develops their skill set for more challenging opportunities. The organization understands that it takes every single person to continue setting the standard for excellence in the availability of medications for those in need. Embracing the diverse needs of the marketplace allows every point of view to be considered.
No two people are alike, and the Merck benefits have been designed to address the diverse needs of each employee. Rewarding the variety of goals and lifestyles that employees have requires a benefits program that is flexible yet comprehensive. Incentive and long-term bonuses are provided for those individuals that have devoted much of their career to the mission of the organization. With such a strong focus on health and well-being, it comes as no surprise that healthy living flexibility is a core component of the benefits program.
