"The products we make and patients we treat are what keep me coming to work. Additionally, there are some great people here, unfortunately they are the minority."

"The company is highly consensus driven, innovative / out of the box thinkers will find it difficult to get things done."

"Conservative thought processes that lead to poor or no decision making (you can't get in trouble for a decision you don't make), lack of focus on success / achievement, silo mentality very pervasive."

"Eliminate layers of bureaucracy, empower the business units, eliminate head quarter-centric thinking. Provide clear goals and objective, implement a process to ensure that teams/functions/sites are aligned."

"Lack of management support, understaffing, matrix management, conflicting requirements, lack of lessons learned."

"Improve management support, appropriate staffing, single point management, resolve conflicting requirements, learn from lessons learned."

"I enjoyed working with competent engineers developing medical devices from chips to product."

"I would recommend being relaxed and confident when answering interview questions."

"The sometimes large gaps where there was not enough to work on when chip, or hardware development had serious schedule slips."

"I would recommend better up front market analysis, especially for in hospital products. This may actually be happening since the VP of R&D has changed since I left."

"The work we did made a positive difference in people's lives."

"Medtronic's mission is to alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life; ideally you care about this mission going in, but even if not it will grow on you."

"My division was merged with another division whose culture is not a great fit with my division's culture, and politics increased through the process."

"I wouldn't have major reorganizations every 12 months - change can be good, but excessive change can be distracting."

"The lack of compassion and respect, using mostly contractors, the size."

"More criticism, more training, more supervision, more relations, more understanding."

"Their reduction of the work force, which lead to many layoffs."

"Inefficiency and lack of awareness of true drivers of sales, incessant focus on irrelevant details, forcing employees to compete internally and externally."

"Re-evaluate before making multiple changes to effectively determine cause and effect."

"Very professional, no-nonsense environment. Seemingly totalitarianism management, but this was primarily apparent within the manufacturing group."

"Not much apparent joy or pleasure, but this seemed most prevalent in my department."

"Lighten-up a little and be more open-minded to trying a certain approach submitted."

"Lack of clear structure in organization. As big as the company is, they can improve the resource management."

"Take a hard look at organizational gaps. It's hard to succeed when people put to fire without clear direction."

"I am needing more growth and new challenges for me to continue."

"Apply new training methods and more growth opportunity at all levels."

"There are a lot of good people who were drawn to the company for what it used to be."

"It's a tough company to get into, and after you've been there a while, you'll realize the long hours and stress aren't just temporary, and you may wish you'd accepted an offer from another company."

"Medtronic has become a company that seems to care only about profit. Medtronic has laid off employees every year for 6+ years. There's very little job security. Employees have to do more work with fewer resources and work long hours on tight deadlines. It's an extremely stressful work environment. Salaries used to be good, but now they seem to be below the market rate. Employee morale is extremely low."

"Medtronic has too many people who want to be in charge and take credit for the work completed by others. Stop rewarding workplace bullies."

"As information was sent up the chain of command important points were lost."

"They should cut back on the layers of management in their structure."

"Understand the mission, be ladder driven, don't expect to move too quickly, be prepared to do the right thing by patients."

"Regulatory environment continues to get worse. Systems that don't work or speak to one another are frustrating and don't consider end users."

"The culture is pretty engrained here I would maybe invent and more entrepreneurial atmosphere."
