"Mechanical engineering opens up opportunities to work on cutting-edge and important products and technologies in a wide variety of fields. This makes the career very versatile and interesting. You get the opportunity to be creative and solve complex problems with some very smart people. You will always be learning. One downside is that sometimes you will have many simultaneous projects and tight deadlines that are constantly being re-prioritized. Ultimately, however, it is very rewarding."

"My role as an engineer gave me the change to build unique solutions to problems in real-time. If I didn't fix the problem quick, production would go down. So I had to be quick but also solve the problem and not just patch it. Sometime the stress could get to me, but for the most part it was a challenge and at time even fun to show off my abilities."

"Love the engineering challenges but find the constant pressures to perform large amounts of work in increasingly smaller windows of time, usually caused by poor management planning, to be tasking."

"People don't look outside the box at MEs--just because someone hasn't done a particular skill doesn't mean they can't learn! I'd rather have self-starter than someone skilled.I like learning about why products behave the way they do--how they work and how they fail."

"I love to be clever and good enough to solve mechanical issues successfully, to see the final products manufactured and said I designed this. I hate to do always the same so I hope in this position the designs will be different."

"Love:I get to create things and express the full power of my imagination while doing it. I love taking things apart and figuring out how they work. Everything is a challenge and must be overcome.Hate:Most engineers I have met have a youthful appearance, I myself am very young (25) and employers tend to use this to my disadvantage when negotiating pay. Also managers and other leaders, tend to abuse or underestimate engineers until things stop working."
