"Worst place to work. Unfortunately they are the only game in town. Management encourages a hostile, unsafe work environment. The hospital is self insured so you have no choice in health care. The dental and vision are outsourced so they are good. The salary scale is extremely low - so don't expect too much. Your annual salary is based on your supervisor's review - even if they don't work alongside you and have NO idea of who and what you are and do. If there is a patient or staff complaint - their word is taken at face value - you are then called in and accused and disciplined - management has already made up their mind - there is no chance to give your side of the story. This has happened to myself and many of my coworkers. They preach patient safety - yet the staff to patient ratios during season are extreme and unsafe. If you just need a job and can keep your mouth shut about absolutely everything, then this area is a great place to live - the beaches, the area are beautiful."

"I like the nurses I work with. Close to home."

"I have never spoken to a nurse in any department that is happy working here. It is the only game in town so we are stuck. Benefits cut. Hard to get PTO time but if you leave you only get 75% of the amount you accrued. Systems are set up so you attack each other to protect yourself."

What don't you like about working at Lee Memorial Health System?

"Managemet abusive and out of touch. Surgical services run like a meat factory. Not much time given to patient's readiness for surgery."

"Back off. Work wil get done safely without you standing over us. Tell us occasionally what we do right. Role your sleeves up and help if you want it faster."

"It is the only Health system in town and therefore has no motivation to stay current on treatment, safety or compensation for employees or patients."

"I would suggest that physicians be highly encouraged to discharge pt.s before starting their OR cases to decrease census problems, stop the all-white dress code for staff on surgical floors, make the pt./staff ratio safer."
