4.9Lawrence Livermore Nat'l lab is a dynamic place to work. Being surrounded and exposed to out of the box thinkers and extremely gifted people in the scientific and engineering community. I've spent over ten years there and have enjoyed and learned a lot of new and exciting things. It truly enhanced my skills, knowledge and abilities. I would recommend it as one of the best places to work.
4.7One of the best jobs, of my life. I was brought on board for a 6 month contract position that ended up lasting 10 years. Very demanding atmosphere, 24/7/364, not for everyone environment. My time was effective, efficient, and the best. Great cutting edge technology, wealth on knowledge. I have my place in the science journals from the project I was attached to. I just wish I have gotten a degree while attached to the project. It would have been easier to find a job after the project was over. :-(.
The overhead is way too high -- fire 80% of the top managers and all of middle management. I went to work for a different government contractor where our top-tier talent costs the government half of what it would have at LLNL, and the average talent costs a quarter and the employee pay and benefits are better.
