"I have worked for Language Line Services since 2007. I enjoy working from home and not having to commute. Also, I enjoy the interpreter work and helping bridge the language barrier. I have gained a lot of experience working for LLS and learned a lot of useful information. That is it for the pros in working for this company. The pay is minimal, they charge their clients more than 10 times per min. compared to what they pay most of their interpreters. There are no benefits, such as sick days or paid vacation. There are no raises or bonuses of any kind, even when you worked for them for a decade or more. People work on holidays for minimum wage. Health insurance coverage is also minimal, not worth what you pay for it. Since you work at home, you are really isolated, there is little communication with fellow workers, communication with management is minimal and usually limited to occasional monitoring and review of your performance, followed by feedback and requests to work on your mistakes; and harsh complaints about your attendance and breaks, accompanied by threats of disciplinary action. One would wonder why anybody would work for this company, and many qualified, high-quality interpreters choose not to. This company hires large numbers of people who are under-qualified and hold no certification or even a degree, but are able get by (after a brief training) and are willing to work under such conditions because their options are limited. This kind of employees are relatively easy to find, there are many bilingual people around, so Language Line Services easily replaces interpreters who choose to leave, when they are not happy with conditions. I would not recommend working for this company, if you have other options. If you are just starting out and need experience, that's a good. Also, if you need some secondary, part-time income. Beware that it's a dead-end job, with a really modest pay and almost no opportunities for advancement."
"Poor compensation with zero to little advancement opportunity. Employees do not feel valued and are not given development opportunities. You have no recognition for your efforts. Have a great idea Well, it won't get credited back to you."
"Very good overall."
