"KonamI is very much a Japanese company, and as such it's steeped very much in Japanese business practices and mindset which can often lead to overly tense work environment. Favoritism often runs rampant in some departments and with no incentive to improve performance will leave many staff members often doing the bare minimum required of them."

The U.S. office has no say in decision-making, HQ bogs down everything with lengthy online approval processes for EVERYTHING, even paying the utilities. No upward mobility (company-wide, not just for me). Only shining light is the HR department... they really do look out for you and try to get the best benefits available."

What do you like about working at Konami?

"the massive strength of the company when dealing with Nintendo, Sega, Walmart, Best Buy, Lucas Arts, etc. Extrememly interesting."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Don't expect to have any personal life. A typical day at this company starts at 7 am and does not end until after 11 pm, 7 days a week. You have to commit all of yourself if you want to climb the ladder to the top."

What don't you like about working at Konami?

"the culture. You were working in Japan as soon as you stepped inside the office. 10 steps behind top management. Many middle managers did not last due to this pecking order."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Allow more women to attain middle management positions. Let your upper management American managers make the decisions they were hired to make."
