Jeppesen began as a company specializing in the production of navigational charts for aviation professionals. Today, the business has expanded to include a much broader range of products, including nautical charts, flight training materials, railway logistics and software. Headquartered in Inverness, Colorado, Jeppesen has offices in 50 locations around the globe.

Jeppesen was launched in 1934 by a pilot who had first started drafting aeronautical charts for his own use. Founder Elrey Borge Jeppesen discovered that there was a market for his charts with other pilots, so he began selling them from a workshop in his basement in Salt Lake City, Utah. When the company moved in 1941 to Denver, Colorado, it began providing flight publications to the U.S. Navy and to other commercial enterprises. The Boeing Company acquired Jeppesen in 2000.
