"Software group buys a lot of companies for new products/technologies. While the technology is hot, they continue to develop it in the US. When it is matured, jobs are outsourced and engineers in the US get laid off, no matter how they contributed in the old product/technology. You should move to a new position every a few years within the company if possible."

"The time at IBM was a great experience. I got to see what it was like to work in the corporate world. I've met a lot of good people. It's a flexible environment with life, school, and work. As long as you get the work done, then everyone is satisfied."

"The CbD program for new hires is horrendous. Consultants are treated as numbers, not as people."

"It has been both rewarding and challenging but it's been tough the last two years given the number of re organizations that they have per year. I don't see myself here in the next couple of years."

"Responsible for architecture, project management, estimating, design. Too much travel for this position (100% each week). I don't mind traveling up to 60% of the time. I have earned a very good reputation and have earned a high band level. As senior management consultant, I am expected to perform any role on a project. Most of the projects I am either delivery manager, project manager, or lead architect."

"IBM is a great company. It is a Matrix Sales organization that does not allow me to leverage my executive relationships established over my career.Compensation for successful sales is average."

"Great place to invest some time. The consulting organizations are a little short-sighted with the burnout of their staff and limited increases in compensation. You will learn a lot, but it will become very apparent why the average IBMer is only there for under 5 years."
