"To be more open-minded."

"Freedom to develop myself professionally. I could have decided to learn Maya and it would have been possible. I learned how to install and manage a deployment service and Hyper-V because of this job."

"They are re-org. So everything has changed. Fort Collins is probably the best place to relocate to get a job with HP."

What don't you like about working at HP Software?

"The wishy washy management. My manager did not need me as an employee; he had me because he didn't want to do the work. The company busted him and they had to end the contract."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Hire people who can do the work. My manager did not know how to support the machines he was in charge of supporting. He is an electrical engineer by trade; move him to that and hire someone who knows support for support purposes."

"(1) This is isn't Microsoft, dress appropriately. (2) Don't bluff."

"Can take a long time to get things done because of the huge size."

"(Old days) Sense of community, common purpose, RESULTS ORIENTED, recognition, ability to move around and learn different paths without too much risk, work rewarded well."

"Make your resume and experience a mirror of what they are asking for and be sure to train yourself constantly outside of work, as you will need to keep yourself updated and current for after your layoff."

"(Now) Every man for himself, fear, fear, fear, no freedom to experiment, lots of overtime, constant benefits cutting, little reward/recognition."

"Look at Google, Read Dave Packard's book. Security breeds innovation - fear/competition kills it."

"Used to be a safe job (traditionally main positive argument), not anymore. Since departure of Carly Fiorina they are trying to get back to original basics, not sure about success."

"Careers based on political correctness rather than personal contributions, as it used to be in the days of Bill and Dave."

"Get their heads from their..... and realize that they will be losing many more good people (than they already have) if they obstinate on promoting based on gender and race criteria rather than individual contributions."

"The people, also the benefits and flex time are excellent."

"Management choices seem to make little sense and come from so high with little explanation."
