"I worked for HauteLook.com well before they were acquired by Nordstrom; the company has obviously changed significantly. The glory days of being a successful and relaxed start-up have passed and been replaced with layers of bureaucracy and better health and retirement benefits. It is still a great place to work, Nordstrom really takes care of their own, but you cannot expect to effect the same change anymore."

"There are a lot of companies that pride themselves on their so-called culture or ethics. To me these words mean absolutely nothing if engineers are controlled by business people and developers are under the mercy of so called hip management. This is the underlying problem of HauteLook. Their managers are too full of their own s--- to be called a true powerhouse company. If a company's true focus is on making money as opposed to making the lives of their employees better, it is not worth it"
