"I love health products, but GNC is too expensive, gimmicky, hypocritical. While an employee, I shopped at other online sites because even my discount wasn't good enough. Some GNC brand products are good, but they focus far too hard on selling their own items when third party competitors are often better. Also, they claim to be about helping the customer, while still always hassling sales associates about not selling enough GNC vitamins or chews."

"Hostile, threatening executive leadership. Abandoned customer service and went full-bore selling culture."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Wrong person running the stores. Turn-over is direct result. Losing great people due to bad promotion of field leader. Worst choice for a leader. Get back to customer service as focus and incentivize managers on top line sales. Abandon the million metrics which have turned into an obsession instead of the customer experience."

"As a co-owner of this franchise location, I love the fact that all of my effort and creativity is what allows this location to excel."

"Very strong brand recognition with unparalleled product quality and reputation. The issue is that each store has a profitability ceiling. There comes a point in which to make more you must buy more locations as opposed to expanding yours. That is the main downside to GNC that I have experienced."

What don't you like about working at General Nutrition Centers?

"The corporate half of GNC does not look to help the franchise side. Their main goal is to keep us compliant with their guidelines and programs as opposed to helping to promote our profitability."

"I wish that we would be allowed more flexibility to design programs, outside of the corporate ones, to increase our profit margins."
