"Very unprofessional management. Very rude and ignorant. Rick Foster at Scott City, MO needs to be fired! Him Jenny and Julie get paid way too much because they do very little. Never received any training, constantly being lied to, for get to pay me, short pay me, doesn't know how to do payroll or overtime, rules change daily, just very unprofessional! They need to go! Beware go elsewhere!"

"DO NOT WORK FOR PEMBROKE MA LOCATION. The drivers are top notch. The management needs to go! This management team has been here for 3 years and has turned this lot into a sad state. They lie. They don’t answer emails/texts/phone calls. Never take responsibility. They have zero mgt experience. They’ve already lost one lot- ours is next!"

"First Student isn’t the greatest place to work. Our location manager has been mentally abusing to our drivers, the dispatcher and is constantly micromanaging us to the point we have lost 10 plus driver within 6 months including newly hired people. Don’t complain to first student or they’ll have you terminated for unjustified reasons. I resigned my position due to harassment and a hostile work environment. This is a terrible company to work for unless you are desperate don’t consider this company."

"This place is run like a bunch of 13 year old girls. Unprofessional , nothing but one big rumor mill. Just a bunch of old women that would never make it out in the world. they cut the routes so close that you cant get back and forth and there is no money."

"Location manager leads by example in creating a positive and efficient environment. During the chaos of a global pandemic this company and management worked hard to keep employees informed and taken care of. That is also the biggest reward knowing they teach you how to handle and complete the job with utmost competence. The feeling of community among employees, management, and customers is strong."

"It's hard working for a company that cuts your budget out from under your feet every time you turn around. In the transportation arena you have to spend money to make money."

"I have been there since 2012 and the one constant I see is that staff the office workers. They need customer service training, they lose a lot of people because they down talk to people as if they don't have an option to go elsewhere. They do the minimum it takes to pass. They have no one that I can say does above and beyond what they get paid for. They all talk about each other behind their backs, and office full of women is a recipe for disaster."

"FIrst Student in Boise Idaho is an awful company to work for, and what I see the main company isn't any better. The local charter manager walks around the office like he has nothing to do, and isn't sociable with his employees. Most employees would love to see him and his office staff replaced. Dispatch has no idea what they are doing. You go into work routes that are a wreck. Lady that works with schools/dispatch needs to be fired. She is nasty to everyone. Training department needs to be retrained."

"Seattle: RAMPANT favoritism. 2012-2013 start @$13 (was $14.25)"

What do you like about working at First Student?

"I enjoyed the scenery and variety of neighborhoods my routes took me through. I enjoyed driving kids on special trip destinations"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Ask Are the BENEFITS provided or available If they hesitate...then say AVAILABLE, just know that YOU will be paying for them out of your pitiful wages. PROVIDED mean THEY PAY....not likely here in Seattle. Also they will unspokenly expect that you donate your time for the First AID Training classes in the future. Your 1st First Aid Card/training is paid for, 3 years later you DONATE your time in the next class. I still think that Washington State Labor and Industries should investigate/AUDIT their records at this location for not paying for this MANDATORY TRAINING."

What don't you like about working at First Student?

"The CHARTER DISPATCHERS show Favoritism in the extra assignments and the NEW Pier 91 Location Mgr has a God/LITTLE Napoleon Complex-not a nice guy to work for or to be around. Can you say antagonistic jerk"

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Fire the new antagonistic jerk mentioned above. Stop fighting the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union attempts at organizing your workers. Why do you seriously care whether they pay union dues Workers Pro: they'll get a Labor Agreement with improved working conditions and steady fair wages. Mgmt Pro: LESS Turnover each year. Can we say 20-30% annually It's a NO BRAINER! BUT wait...they'd have to have a BRAIN to get this. My BAD...I gave them the benefit of the doubt."

"Been driving for First Student for several years"

What do you like about working at First Student?

"Local boss is OK.In our little corner of the metro area, the kids are pretty good."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Insurance is expensive and not very good at all. Several drivers at my location have small businesses of their own. They drive just to get the insurance. But the insurance is so bad (doesn't cover much. has low limits, etc.) and costs so much that it really isn't worth the pain."

What don't you like about working at First Student?

"Upper mgmt is clueless about what really is going on at the worker level. Most of the buses don't meet safety regulations. We have had buses without horns, lights, emergency brakes, etc. for months without getting fixed."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Listen to the drivers. In my area, over half the drivers have college degrees and have already completed one career. They drive for the enjoyment and/or something to do. You treat us like uneducated monkeys. Catch a clue, we have years of experience behind us and know what we are talking about. But, you threaten us with being fired if we speak out."
