3.7I've really enjoyed working for Evonik as a contractor for nearly 2 years. The social environment is very well versed and not overly structured. It's very pleasant being around these people. The managers are not overbearing and do not micromanage at all. I'm an external employee and thus I'm treated and paid differently than internal employees that I share nearly the same responsibilities with.
3.8My Process Engineering Internship with Evonik occurred in the summer of 2019 and lasted 3 months at the Lafayette, IN site. As an intern, I was given responsibility for two projects - one personal project related to my major and one as a group. The workers on-site, both engineers and operators, have a helpful attitude towards the interns. The two mentors I worked with greatly helped with my projects reaching completion before my internship came to a close. The experience also helped me transition from college thinking to what is to be expected in the workforce.
2.5Evonik bought the site from ElI Lilly. They came in and stripped the great family oriented atmosphere and immediately laid off almost half the plant site staff. They then continued to contract out many other positions which offered most people the exact jobs they had been doing at half the wages and benefits. You and everyone you worked with were greatly appreciated and got decent reviews and the next (with Evonik) every department was over staffed and over paid! TERRIBLE conditions!
