What do you like about working at Alyeska Pipeline Service?
"Living in Alaska was great, although very expensive."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Don't expect a typical estimating position and don't expect proper supervision."
What don't you like about working at Alyeska Pipeline Service?
"Working as the only estimator in the company was not a typical estimator job. The job was in the finance department answering to the finance manager, who knew nothing about construction or estimating. I received very little support from the management, who eventually eliminated my position."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"If an experienced estimator is ever hired again by Alyeska, management should provide proper support through a chain of command that flows through construction, not finance."

"I made very good friends while working at Penick. . Penick has a family oriented work environment. In addition I had good opportunities for professional growth"

"Probably not very technically challenging, hence not a position where you would learn a lot of technical aspect of construction or engineering."

"Constantly changing scenarios for customers and insurance work. Everyday is something different and it really kept me on my toes and ready for the next change."

"Be yourself and don;t just give the answers they want to hear."
What don't you like about working at CARSTAR?
"Advancement opportunities were based on how well the General Manager liked you and how well you could be best buddies with him. He didn't like you to express your opinions, just wanted to hear it the way he wanted it done."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"More of a structured training program put in place and more advancement from within. It was not a job to come into without any automotive experience. You could very easily get discouraged and leave the business."
