"EMC had an install base that they didn't know how to market into so I had a field day expanding their business in a short period of time. I had a ton of people resources available to me, and most people in the organization were those who like to hide in the high weeds. I was able to leverage a lot of this untapped talent and grow sales without increasing expenses."

"You need to know what you are talking about (business, technology, selling strategies)."

"Stagnant approach to sales is a killer for progressive growth opportunities."

"They need more progressive people in the field, and need to learn value add and solution selling (vs. price selling)"

"Management is confused and believes innovation should come from above, when it has not done so. They say the right thing, but they act very differently. They are stuck in a cycle of developing products, burying them in India, laying off those workers, and buying a new company to do something new. Very little continuity and job security is weak at best."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Stop micro-managing so much. They also make a mockery of iterational development, as that relies on empowered engineers, but every decision that needs making, even minor ones, is not allowed through, even mid-iteration, and constant meetings will be had just for the sake of the process."
