"Discouraged with product roadmap within my business unit; Information Intelligence Group (IIG). Software licensing model too complex, should be simplified."

"I am satisfied with my immediate management. Senior Executive Management appears disconnected with Field Sales and Customer needs."

"unclear direction, too much work moving overseas with no saving of cost, engineers are just expens"

"Check who is going to be your manager and how is management s type, there are a lot of talented software engineers, the problem is the management."

"Benefits are very good, the training and option to get a degree while working is excellent, great engineers, location"

"a change need to be done in the management level, lately too many unqualified manger with no software development experience managing software development groups."

"Negotiate high when applying for a position. beware that most entry level positions are going overseas."

"Limited advancement due to salary. Constant change due to acquisitions of new companies and trying to place their managers."

"Be proactive and prompt with defining year and quarterly goals and budgets"

What do you like about working at EMC?

"The software I support comes with its own front end systems but offers various ways to expand the system. I enjoy helping customers who have found creative ways to utilize the software with their existing systems using web service calls and other methods to get the results and functionality they need. I especially enjoy when they are finding some odd, quirky behavior that I can help smooth out by reviewing their code that communicates with our software or write my own code to test a suspected issue."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you get hired, always be confident in what you say or say you will need to find out before giving an answer. Both the customer and management would appreciate it if you know what you are talking about or are willing to find the answers needed. Don't guess."

What don't you like about working at EMC?

"Support can also be very repetitive. Especially with new releases where you might see a period of time where the same issues get reported over and over by different customers."

"Understand the current processes and personal attributes of a team before making drastic changes that disrupt the current makeup of the team."

"The diversity of the job enable me to excel and to learn many new skills. It enabled me to see other very large companies infrastructures and how they managed their systems and the procedures they had in place."

"This is a great company to work for if you are the sales type then you are in for a great ride."

"Sometimes it seems that nothing could be accomplished without having a meeting to discuss some aspects of the sales division."

"Management seemed to always come in at the last moment and throw the team a curve ball and move up the sales cycle."

"New technology and interesting products. Given a change to develop within your field. Enough resources to be able to do your work. Great health and 401K plan."

"My position was changing to include substantially more time for reporting of trends and problem reporting to upper managment."

"Give technical departments as much of resources to fix problems, as possibly"

"I work in the RSA portion... wear jeans to work, get to work a lot of cool projects, self governing for the most part"

"Upper management is clueless. Will not implement solutions that will fix problems"

"Loosen the belt a little at corporate, and streamline things. Speed things up"

"Too far from my house, not personal laptop available for all"

"Promote working from home more, need to communicate more with individual from the group."

"The benefits and stock options were very good. The technology was usually leading edge."

"Try to get an understanding of the management style of your immediate manager and the department management team. Also, try to meet some of your coworkers."

What don't you like about working at EMC?

"It was difficult to collaberate with the people off-shore because of the time difference. Excluding India, there were tranlation problems occasionally."

"There was too much out-sourcing of jobs to both India, China and Russia."

"Too many projects going on at the same time involving too many employees"

"This is a large company with a lot of room for negotiation. Don't be afraid to ask for the salary and benefits you deserve."

"Lack of corporate culture and minimal opportunity to bridge working relationships since resources all work remotely."

"It is a large slowly moving company that is highly risk averse and values employees that want a clear step by step career path."

"The CEO of EMC does an excellent job and I wouldn't change how he runs the show."

"Make sure you find out about the new hire orientation process. Not everyone is up for walking on hot coals."
