Ask about career advancement and what kind of training is offered if that is something that is important to you."

What don't you like about working at Data Projections?

"This is not a reflection of DPI as a whole company. I am speaking of the branch I worked out of. System Design and Project Management are to vital components to a successful project. When I worked there Project Management and System Design were two job descriptions that were not filled by people with those titles. The Designer that we did have for a time was stretched thin doing quotes and walk-throughs. Things that a salesman who is knowledgeable is supposed to be doing. But the salesmen weren't knowledgeable. As a result the projects suffered. Equipment specified was often flat out wrong for the application. Drawings were not detailed. Basically there was sales people and technicians and that was it. The sales people didn't really know Commercial AV and would bid jobs based on a cursory review of the clients needs. This created a bad work environment. Jobs were bid with inadequate hours budgeted. Obstacles in the installation stage were rarely headed-off before hand until it was too late. At the time I wish I asked more questions and knew what my superiors expected of me based on how the job was bid. I could have both known what set goals are and accounted for my labor with a measurable degree. But these conversations never happened."
