Senior Administrative Assistant

"The Dallas County Community College District strives to support all students to get the education they desire, and strongly values diversity and inclusion. They have many programs that help high school students transition into higher education, and provide assistance to those with food and housing insecurity. The Board of Trustees of the DCCCD take their responsibility very seriously and I have enjoyed working with them and the Executive Staff and Chancellor."

"Avoid this position at all costs!"

What do you like about working at Dallas County Community College District?

"The benefits were stellar, as long as you didn't have a shift that made it impossible to use the benefits."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"The job is super easy to get. The qualifications are very low. If you actually want this job (IE, you are just that desperate.) just be very patient. They'll phone you well over 3 months after you apply. Then after you interview, it may be up to 3 months later that they hire you. As for anything else, they're probably pretty dire in needing just a warm body to fill this role at this point. I knew more about what I was doing than pretty much everyone else there, so if you have half a clue, you're good."

What don't you like about working at Dallas County Community College District?

"The job was impossible. You were paid to enforce rules but if you enforced them you were punished. You had to report things like hours honestly, but if you were forced to work over your allotted hours, you would be punished, and if you insisted on leaving on time, you were punished. The students run the campus. No rules are enforced. It is unsafe. Sexual harassment is the norm. The place is morally a nightmare."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"If you have rules, enforce them. Don't punish people for doing their jobs. Support your staff. Don't let students bully you into degrading your morals. If things are still as they were when I left, your students are not learning anything and hence not getting their money's worth. Stick to your morals rather than cave to the pressure of the lowest common denominator. You've lost at the very least me, if not countless other highly skilled people because you don't allow your own staff to perform their jobs in a safe environment."
