"Cummins is an excellent company. Good culture, work-life balance. Business is going well and leadership seems to be leading them in the right direction. Highly recommend. Only downside is that it is located in a small town and compensation is average."
"I worked for Cummins for 12 weeks over the summer of 2019. It was a great opportunity for me to learn from actual engineers. This was the first time I was working in a technical role in a company and it really taught me a lot about company culture and how work is done in a company. It was a little slower than I would have liked due to the company being very big and bureaucratic. However, my manager was really awesome and pushed me to do a lot of technical work and I learned a lot from him."
"I have worked with Cummins through my last 2 employers. As to my most recent position I have nothing, but positive things to say about my work environment. My coworkers are friendly and helpful, it is a very positive working atmosphere, and finally it is one of the most unique jobs I have had."
"Cummins Filtration is a very good company to start your career."
"I have been working for Cummins Onan of Elkhart for 5 years now. Management, leadership team, and lower management is a joke. Hard working employees are treated very poorly while those that come in drunk, high, or just lazy and sleep on the job are promoted. Advancement within the company is not going to happen. The only good thing that I can say is the benefits are not that bad and you get them as soon as you are hired on. That however can take forever. I have no opinion of the current CEO. However, if things continue as they are then I will leave it as a no."
"Cummins like every thing else in this world is not what it used to be. Anybody that has a new product knows this to be true, or will soon find out. They don't make them like they use to. They overwork their employees and expect so much out of them, with ridiculous goals. The employees do not receive anything special for their hard work. If you could see what some of the faults found that are passed you wouldn't want one of these engines. But Cummins will try to deny this and just hope it goes away. There are still some good products in this world. Do your research. And sometimes the best item isn't always high in price."
"Good place to work. Enjoyed my time there and would recommend to others."
"I have worked 3 years so far with Cummins Power Generation, located in Fridley, MN. The below is not true for other business units at Cummins. Work culture (personal experience): aggressive schedules, proper planning from management to meet schedules. Switching responsibilities of employees from project to project helps employees to get exposure to complete project, but limits to become Subject Matter expert. Professional environment and encourages talent and diversification. New product marketing is lacking sales currently, Marketing should be improved."
"Forced ranking sucks. It is arbitrary, unfair, and counterproductive. It is based on the fallacy that employee hirings are based on a random population, which if managers are doing their jobs, is untrue. It destroys morale and teamwork by encouraging kiss-up, kick-down behavior."
"I've been with Cummins Power Systems since 2011, and over that time my coworkers and peers have become my family. A great work environment, awesome people."
"I worked as a co-op and although company values diversity my supervisor seemed very ignorant to value of diversity and made taunts on my name on first day. I also found biased behavior on part of supervisor."
"Great ideas of technology for global implementations, however they get lost in the weeds quickly and do not necessarily value and engage into the views and obstacles that such issues would naturally be seen from. In this case, otherwise leadership changes too frequently and associates are left in the wind and tend to be left in the dust and under valued as a key member in global alignment."
"Needs improved. Does not have a good environment at the current time."
"Cummins has a great work culture, with immense opportunities for growth. I liked the flexibility and freedom given to me as a Co-op to work with cross functional teams to perform on multiple projects."
"The company was in flux and my position was created and eliminated in 2 weeks. I wasn't sure what direction the company wanted to go."
