Most relationships are tight knit and everyone strives to exemplify the company's mission regarding loving and caring. In the office environment, many of the policies and procedures are outdated and they need people with the vision to bring them into the here and now."

What do you like about working at Christiana Care Health System?

"Competitive pay and benefits, job stability, in that it's very difficult to be fired, short commute, close proximity to lunch time dining options."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Because of the limited ability to make upward moves, apply for the position you wish to have or at least maintain from a lateral perspective. Have a life established outside work, because interpersonal drama can best be avoided by simply not engaging. Do your work and keep your head down, because those are the individuals who get the most accomplished."

What don't you like about working at Christiana Care Health System?

"Employees are often stagnant in positions without growth. There are some who are simply warming chairs. Because no real repercussions are felt for bad behavior, e.g., online shopping, constant personal cell phone usage, not putting in expected hours; it runs rampant."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Address interpersonal issues among staff more effectively, adopt a zero tolerance policy towards office drama and violations of hospital conduct policy."

What do you like about working at Christiana Care Health System?

"I liked the challenges of being able to bring process improvement to such a large organization. Because the majority of my experience was from the private sector I had a lot of experience with full Practice Management and I was able to understand the big picture well. This experience was the reason why I was on several commities that involved the physician practices and their interactions with the Finance Department, as well as, IT. I had previously implemented and EMR so I was on the Implementation Team for new practices within the organization as well."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you are going to go into consulting, I think the most important thing anyone needs to understand is the big picture. I have worked with many consultants over the years who are very good at their one area of expertise, but they are not aware of the impact their recommendations may have in other areas. This can be extremely damaging when implementing something such as an EMR."

What don't you like about working at Christiana Care Health System?

"The biggest challenge to working for such a large organization is to put all of the pieces together and ensure that all of the relevant participants are communicating. This is a challenge that you dont have in a private practice but it makes the outcomes much more rewarding."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"My only suggestion would be to work on more effective communication tools such as sharepoints."

"I think the baby boomers are going to spend less time in hospitals and more time in promoting healthy life styles, including better automated record keeping and wellness monitoring."

"Buyer beware. It's alot of smoke and mirrors. Talk to people within and outside th dept you are applying for and find out why the position is vacant from others than HR"
