Overview
Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) is a faith-based health care system comprised of hospitals, long-term care facilities, home health agencies and nursing schools. Established in 1996 through cooperation between three similar institutions in Nebraska, Pennsylvania and Ohio, its mission is to create healthy communities through promotion of human dignity, social justice and healing ministries.
CHI has its headquarters in Englewood, Colorado. It currently operates health systems and facilities in 17 states and supports three national organizations for fundraising, home care services and pathology. In 2012, CHI provided close to $665 million in care and services against operating revenues of $9.8 billion. It is the second largest Catholic health care institution in the United States.
