3.5 I worked with Cargill Meat Solutions since January 2008. I started as a regular worker, inspecting meat before it is ready to be placed in a plastic bag to be shrink wrapped. I moved up as an inspector and professional in my area. I currently have about 20 different labels that have 5 numbers per label. Some of the product I take care of we call Japanese because they will be shipped to Japan. They have 7 numbers on them, so they took me a few days to learn the numbers and memorize them.

3.5 I've worked for Cargill since 2006. I was recently notified that our department will be eliminated and outsourced to TCS (Tata Consulting Services). I'm looking for new employment due to the recent announcement made by our CIO that our Infrastructure department will be outsourced. Overall it was good working for Cargill up until the last 6 months as they reviewed sourcing strategies.

Cargill started with one grain storage facility in 1865 in Canover, Iowa. Since the railroad system was being built, the company was able to follow the construction and grow with the Westward movement. In addition to its grain facility, the Cargills were also involved in insurance, flour milling, coal, farming, real estate and lumber. Despite, Cargill's early success, it too had its share of down times.

Cargill's success can be based on these lessons from the very beginning where it learned very valuable ones early on. Cargill has been managed by leaders who have been quick on their feet and who have had the ability to lead a company through tough times like the Great Depression and even the current economic climate.
