"It is a good tech company using a wide tech stack."
"I've worked for Capital One for 1 year now. Although Capital One has many great use cases for technology, engineers within the TDP program are very limited."
"I've worked for Capital One as a contractor for the last 4 months. They are leaders in the fin-tech business. The company culture is very professional and uplifting even if it is quite meeting-heavy. They do not hire Associate Software Engineers without bachelor's degrees."
"Great place to work! Definitely a strong technical vision with tons of opportunity."
"CEO has great vision and attitude but very wrong set of leaders surrounding him. Capital One forces employees to compete against each other for survival in under "forced distribution" model, hence inculcating toxic competition. This unhealthy environment goes against "innovate and fail fast" motto that company pretends to embrace while attracting talent. Capital One's unhealthy hiring and firing pipeline makes sure employees and not invested in peer development. Environment forces employees (associates) to invest in their survival by strategizing their days/months in bypassing one manager to another. I was part of the Richmond, VA team and I have personally seen the environment there, hence choosing to get out of that ASAP (in a year). Richmond market has very few major employers, hence employees in Richmond are solely invested in surviving and retiring in the company at all cost as their families depend on that income. Company and its leaders know this and exploit the situation to their benefit. If another employer enters the Richmond market, more than 60% of the associates won't think twice before running out of Capital One's beautiful and toxic campus."
"I worked here since 2009. Good company with great benefits. It's more of a technology company rather than a financial institution. I loved working here."
"Capital One was an amazing company to work for and are on the cutting edge of applying artificial intelligence technology to their products. I was a part of many round table meetings for product improvement and software/hardware testing prior to product roll out."
"Overall average experience."
"I am starting with the company on Monday (09/17), it took over a month to get interviewed and hired. Just keep in mind, if you apply for Capital One, expect a long process to get in the door."
"For a large company, I would have thought they would treat their applicants with respect. I applied and interviewed and they never got back to me to give me an answer. I waited 10 weeks before reaching out and they told me they dropped the ball. Do they really care about their employees if this is how the application process goes? I am insulted and they will never get my business and will pass this along to everyone I know."
