The job of a call center associate is to take incoming call for a business and offer resolutions to the callers. This is usually a customer service oriented job, but some dispatch offices and internal technical support help desks also have call center associate positions.
Skillset: The majority of call center associate positions will be filled by people who have basic computer skills and are able to be friendly and customer service oriented. Time management skills are also valued, along with the ability to follow up with callers and track promised resolutions.
Education: Unless a call center associate is working in a technical support position, they only require a high school diploma or GED; however, previous customer service experience is preferred.
Career Path: Most call center associates use their position as a stepping stone to move within a company. Many successful associates will be able to transition into management or supervisor positions, where they are responsible for call center agents or monitor agent productivity.
