Brickman Group Employee

"Brickman is a large company, with a lot of locations across the United States. In many positions, there are a lot of opportunities to advance, but they will come with their price. Additionally, over 80% of their employees do not have access to healthcare benefits, making it difficult if one has the typical expectations of a career. The Brickman Foundation is, however, one of the more endearing details of the company, as a fund is set aside to assist employees with life crises."

"The company has sold out. High turnover rate; under compensated employees; not enough people to do the job and lack of resources. Middle management and staff suffer so that the big bosses at the top can line their pockets."

"Worst working experience of my 25 year career in this industry."

What do you like about working at Brickman Group?

"There a many industry experts so overall knowledge of company is very good."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Don't! go somewhere else. Unless you want to learn a lot and then go somwhere else. There is no stability here. If you do interview here. Make sure to ask how many long term employees have been let go in the last few years and why so much turnover."

What don't you like about working at Brickman Group?

"Too many lies from senior managers. They put a lot of time and effort into trying to sell how much the employees mean to the company but they back stab and throw them under the bus every chance they get as long as someone else takes the heat instead of them."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Get a clue, The morale is terrible in our area. Everyone feels like they have to walk on eggshells just to keep thier jobs. People are afraid to make suggestions or even challenge bad policy or ideas for fear of being black listed."

"Fun job, stinky pay, a lot of dishonesty with branch manager's in my experiences"

What do you like about working at Brickman Group?

"I like a lot of the people that I work with. Many of them are good, hard working, deserving people and they are the ones that make it easier to get up each morning."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Overall, the company tries to do right by their employees. The problem is that each branch is run as its own business, backed by the Brickman name. I really wish I could out the branch that I am talking about because there are some really good and deserving employees there that are overlooked for promotions while backstabbing and undeserving people get the job by acting fake. The management team at this branch is not a good fit for employee morale and they are a bunch of coniving, backstabbing, phoney liars that are nice to your face and then bash you behind your back. I just hope that someday the true colors come out and and these people are caught in the act."

What don't you like about working at Brickman Group?

"I do not like several of the managers that work within this company. Many of them were put into positions they did not deserve and they are on a power trip. These are the people that drive good employees away. Some people can hack it and some can't. Some branches are worse than others. In my experience, I work with a manager that is skimping out on items within a contract to make their numbers look better. It's hard to deal with daily dishonesty when you are an honest person. This type of work environment takes its toll on people after a while. Also, operations managers make crappy money for the things they do on a daily basis."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"My suggestion for management is to really look at your branch managers. Some of them are incredibly dishonest, liars, and don't care who they hurt as long as they look good in the end. It's how they are getting there that's a huge issue but you can't trust anyone so these things get pushed under the carpet. Nobody wants to speak up about the things really going on in the branches."

"I was brought into Brickman under false pretenses, the branch I worked at was in total disarray. I was lied to about the number of hours I would work, and the branch manager lacked integrity and respect for the staff. It was not a drug free workplace, branch had about a 80% turnover the season I was there. The key to the profits with the company was by not providing contractually promised services to the clients and the justifying it to by being less than honest. Some of the people I worked with were good people, however the company lacks ethics and integrity. Compensation is fair to above average, work/life balance is the worst I have ever seen (70-80 hrs a week). The company also does not promote from within as advertised. The company recently transitioned from family owned to publicly traded, creating even more overhead."

What do you like about working at Brickman Group?

"Been with the company for a long time and am currently searching for an alternative."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Unless you want to work 10 - 14 hours a day all year and worry about your job security look towards a different employer. use to be you could breathe during the winter and prepare for the next year,.nope, get ready to push snow"

What don't you like about working at Brickman Group?

"poor leadership beyond the branch level.Have worked with the company for quite a long period of time, this is important to note, as I currently see the morale continuing to nose-dive due to poor senior leadership above the branch manager level. The loss of caring for the ops manager, acct manager and branch manager is demotivating."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Regional managers provide almost zero benefit to the branches in terms of leadership or sales support. Eliminate regional management and you wont miss a beat but what you willl get is some much needed overhead elimination"

"Yeah get out of behind your desk, open your eyes, albeit the company's grip on the landscaping industry will soon come to an end.
