"It is structured, has a flexible schedule, and is very family oriented."

"Do not work through a contracting company unless that is something that you have done before and really like it. Also, it is a great company to work for once you get your foot in the door."

What don't you like about working at BP America?

"I don't like that I am a contract employee. I have a permament position but it doesn't provide the long term benefits that I am seeking. I want to build a future for myself and that is hard to do contract."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"My suggestions would be to help the employees more towards growing opportunities and help them to better themselves."

"Certain people were treated differently. We were taught to speak our mind and let the leadership team know how we felt until we were honest then we were alienated"

"Understand the needs of your employees. Each employee is different but you have to adjust yourself to each employee and listen to their words and not discount them."

"Doesn't give contractor a chance to become full employee. Doesn't get recognition for hard working employee."

"In a company so large there are always changes to manage as well as relationship management and negotiations."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Always negotiate the best compensation package you can up front. The standard increases are not always equivalent to market rates. Be conscious of the fact that everything changes and plan for the changes."

What don't you like about working at BP America?

"The internal job posting system is lacking. I was blocked from taking several openings because I was integral to the transition to outsourced services. In the end, I was severed because I didn't find a position within the allotted 30 days post the transition."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Loyalty to the employee in the sense of at least ensuring their continued employment in a situation where doing their job successfully ends in their job being eliminated."

"Know when you go in that it is short term and that they will try to get everything they can out of you before they spit you out."

"Senseless bureaucracy. No chance to go perm."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Begin letting valuable resources become real employees again. It is fundamentally stupid to spend a year getting someone up to speed on your esoteric style and processes and then kick them out, only to have to spend a fortune training someone else for the same job... It takes 3 months on the job to even begin to be effective there... they are wasting a fortune this way."
