Bose Careers & Info

Current CEO: Lila Snyder

Status: Active

Bose Corporation was founded in the early 1960s by a professor of electrical engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dr. Amar Bose. He was inspired to create speakers that recreated the experience of a live performance. Since the inception of the company, Bose Corporation has made a commitment to create realistic sounds.

Bose Corporation is most known for its revolutionary 901 Direct/Reflecting speaker. This speaker was introduced in 1968 and has been the identifying speaker of the company. In 1972, the company became recognized by professional musicians as a speaker of choice. They also produced the Syncom computer around the same time. This proprietary computer tested speakers against the laboratory model to guarantee that all speakers have a certain level of consistency and reliability.

As the technology evolved, Bose was able to introduce smaller bookshelf size speakers to the public. The 301 Series speaker has become one of the top of the world’s top selling speakers. Later, the technology was modified to be included in some of the most luxurious vehicles by 1982. An all-in-one compact system was developed to help companies navigate the system.

One year after developing the Acoustimass Speaker Technology, Dr. Bose and Dr. William Short won honors for being the Inventors of the Year. In 1989, the technology was introduced into other sectors. An Acoustic Noise Cancelling headset was developed for pilots and passengers. Bose developed Lifestyle systems in the 1990s that incorporate music storage and surround sound systems. In 1993, Bose opened its first retail store in Kittery, Maine. Now, Bose has 126 stores located all over North America.

In 1998, the company introduced the AudioPilot Noise Compensation Circuitry that monitors the total sound level inside a car. Bose later developed numerous innovative and award winning technologies such as the Aviation Headset X, The Videostage Decoding Circuitry, 3-2-1 Home Entertainment System and Adaptiq Audio Calibration System. When iPod was introduced, the company developed speakers and a docking station to specifically complement the iPod. After the company developed their wireless technology, the founder was honored yet again for his innovation in 2008. Home theater, space conservation, energy efficiency and even solutions for truck drivers became the focus by 2010.

Working at Bose, employees get to be at the leading edge of developing technology. Bose Corporation careers are rewarding to their employees. Bose benefits are above average compared to other companies in the industry. Bose Corporation culture encourages its employees by providing incentives and motivation to produce exceptional products.
