"I was a purchased services contractor, their lowest form of corporate life."

What do you like about working at Boeing?

"Good people, very challenging environment, wide range of technology."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you can get a blue badge, aka be a direct and permanent hire to Boeing themselves, you are golden. You will have great pay, good people around you, and you probably won't mind all the stupid corporate stuff because you can just remind yourself about the retirement plan and smile. If you aren't blue badge, be prepared to be ill-used, ill-treated, and eventually replaced by some other, cheaper contractor for no real reason other than Boeing lost another 787 order or ran into another technical hurdle and now needs to save some money."

What don't you like about working at Boeing?

"Extremely large companies all have their own corporate disconnect from real life and logic, but Boeing takes the cake, it was very very frustrating to see them screw things up left and right trying to apply LEAN to places where it just didn't work, and generally doing stupid stuff."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Management's job is not *just* to manage the people, you need to understand your people's job, too... spend time doing their job, and not just an hour a month either, really get to know their processes, and be open to them giving you feedback on the roadblocks that Corporate has put in their way... then good luck finding a way to DO anything about them, but hey, knowing is half the battle, right?"
