Customer Service Representative

What do you like about working at BJ's Wholesale?

"Meeting the variety of customers that shopped with us.they also had a minimal incentive for selling memberships. This was away to get extra gas money for the week."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Know that you are first dealing with the public and it is not going to be all peaches and ice cream every minute of your shift. Also, ask yourself how you would deal with the public! Your own expectations of customer service should portray your dealings with the customer. Ask yourself what is that one shopping experience where you just had a great Customer Service Moment, and could you also do that. If you can handle all of the above and work every day, without calling off, then you can feel confident during the interview."

What don't you like about working at BJ's Wholesale?

"The wages are not very good to support a family. Work schedule would have you working three different shifts a week. One day would open and the next day you would work a mid shift and then another day you would close. This type of schedule makes it very difficult to plan your itinerary and acclimate your body to the changes of time."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Pay attention to the associates that perform every day. Management should do associate performance evaluations every six months and constructively communicate to the associate the areas of weakness and strengths. Follow-up evaluations, if needed, should be done every thirty days to inform the associate of his/her progress. Management should reward associates who show up on time, perform their duties as stated in job requirements, have excellent cash control, and step up a notch to assist other associates and customers with a raise. BJ's can't grow their business by allowing good people to leave because of wages. Customer service is the key and in their business the same customers shop that site every week. Customers become comfortable with a good associate and the majority of the time, they will shop with you because of that associate. Management needs to recognize this."
