"My main concern with my company was that they were inflexible to the changing technological advances. And, because of this inflexibility, they were no longer capable of competing, thus leading to massive lay offs."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Ideally, management should be down to earth, understand that their subordinates are the pillar of the company's success, be firm, but fair, and not be afraid to get their hands dirty."

"Agree on a strategy and do not deviate for a predictable period of time to ensure it is working. Address senior management roles and responsibilities."

"Used to be a great company when it was Bell & Howell. After merger it went to down hill big time. Equipment quality went down and customer satisfaction dropped."

"Don't waste your time."

What don't you like about working at Bell & Howell?

"Being fired after 20 years of service for being off work 3 days with the flu. I had 32 hours of sick time time left. I called in sick and was fired upon my return to work for falsifying my time card. That's after manager had my 20 year award mantel clock sent to his house. Then saying it never arrived at his house when I had I FedEx receipt showing it was delivered to his house. I think he still works for them!!!"

"They have to get some management first."

"Allowed me to use my entire skill set. Was the culmination of all my years old experience."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Keep an open mind. They were purchased by a German company and forced to abandon a successful product line. There is still a lot of resentment there. The company has been around for a long time and that is good. The down side of that is there is a tendency to repeat past mistakes because of some lapses in leadership. The company has good bones and tends to retain it's employees. The only reason I am not still with them is due to health. But, I have now been correctly diagnosed and am returning to the workforce."

What don't you like about working at Bell & Howell?

"A bit too rigid in being satisfied with the status quo. Also, did not treat all employees equally for patent awards."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Have more vision and learn from past mistakes. Most of all do not ship a product until you know it will perform to the customers expectations."

"I LIKED that it was close to home so I could bike to work and that it was an A to Z project, blank sheet of paper to fully completed project in less than a year"
