What do you like about working at FDIC?

"The job was very interesting and sometimes it was exciting. You met a lot of nice people, and some not so nice people. I examined banks where the bankers ripped off their stockholders and I sent them to jail. Every examination was different then the one before it. So you always had to stay on your toes."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Make sure, if you are an interviewee, that you want to travel, a lot. In some field offices, such as the one that I was in, we traveled 30 weeks a year Monday through Friday. If you are married that can be hard on a spouse and a young family. While the FDIC pays really, really well, does it pay well enough to lose your family OR not have a social life."

What don't you like about working at FDIC?

"The FDIC was a regulatory driven entity. When regulations would change, the banks would know about them before we would. The bankers would call us asking for clarification about something in the new regulations, and we had not even seen the new regulation yet. That was always very frustrating. The company would wait until two weeks before the regulation went into place before training us, usually several months after it had gone public with the banks."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Keep examiners better informed of upcoming regulation changes as I noted above. That would be a huge help."
