Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be the best you can be, study hard, and high-ball them on your salary and position needs since it will be very hard to advance quickly once you have been hired. I took a step back to get the job, never do that!"

What don't you like about working at Avanade?

"Seemed impossible to advance due to a review process that was somewhat broken, especially past the 45 level into the management team. Seemed to be more important who you knew, not what good you did or how much the clients liked you. Cut off from superiors most of the time."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Fix the so-called Career Management program, improve salaries for lower-level employees, and start taking your 40-45 level employees that want to advance more seriously."

Solutions Developer

"Good place to work if you are not looking to make much money!"

What don't you like about working at Avanade?

"Pays very little compared to competitors/similar job titles."

Senior Infrastructure Architect

"Not a good experience. Don't interview with Microsoft while working at Avanade."

What do you like about working at Avanade?

"The people at the IC level."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Get your traveling boots on and buy an airline club membership. Buy enough miles to achieve Gold or higher status. Get a good laptop/five night bag with a removable laptop sleeve. Do not expect clear direction on the project and do expect uncertainty. Don't sign the non-disclosure letter they ask you to sign when leaving the company that prohibits sharing your experiences while there. I didn't and I am very glad. (They did hold my last paycheck hostage trying to get me to sign the gag agreement and I never got any severance at all even though I was terminated for asking to change projects and interviewing with Microsoft). DON'T interview with Microsoft while working here. They are required to tell Avanade when they interview an Avanade employee."

What don't you like about working at Avanade?

"The management and politics are overwhelming. Very, very similar to Accenture. I was fired for interviewing with Microsoft and asking to be placed on a different project."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Be honest and support your senior people on site. Create a clear chain of responsibility so that projects do not suffer from divided leadership. Learn that an interview is not treason against the company. Work/life balance doesn't mean completely ignoring your family and personal life."

Lead Developer

"You'll learn a lot working here, but it will be a lot of long hours and travelling."

Systems Engineering Consultant

"It's a great place to work."

What do you like about working at Avanade?

"I worked with some of the brightest people in IT and worked on the cutting edge of technologies."

What don't you like about working at Avanade?

"Travel was tough, I traveled a lot."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Communication is key, more communication"

Analyst

"A once great company."

What do you like about working at Avanade?

"Interesting projects on the cutting edge of MS technologies. Good mentorship when on project and great professional support from employees."

What don't you like about working at Avanade?

"New CEO seems more interested in maximizing the current quarters profit and thus his bonus at the expense of the company's future. Recent decisions mostly eliminate the competitive advantage Avanade had over the competition, this will cost in the end."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Refocus on what made Avanade the best implementer of MS technologies... the employees. Ultimately a consulting company only has one resource to sell, the people they put on a project. Removing the enticements that ensured employees stayed at Avanade will ultimately mean you have no better resources than any other consulting company."
