"IT management is unable to update the outdated thinking. Painful for new ppl."

"Pretty campus (although it is getting run down). Pays very well if you negotiate aggressively during hire."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Negotiate salary aggressively. Company is no longer open with employees about company financial troubles so do your homework and don't trust what they tell you."

What don't you like about working at Armstrong World Industries?

"Thinking in is very small town, outdated and people that challenge the status quo are viewed negatively. Company is focused on saving money but IT never does ROI assessments not do they efficiently allocate the few remaining staff not yet outsourced."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Stop hyper focusing on growing from within for IT executive jobs. Executive management in IT needs to be replaced with outside talent to get aligned with industry standards and foster new ideas to reduce cost without crippling service quality. The CIO REALLY needs to be replaced ASAP."

"Benefits are lacking. Little career development is available. Great place if you do not want to move up in the organization."

"Armstrong is one of the weakest companies that I have seen for marketing. TV ads have run into trouble with PETA and print ads skewed to older demographics. Company does not understand the opportunities to advertise on the internet."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Develop marketing campaigns that are integrated and use online channels. Look to develop campaigns that were appeal to younger demographic. Hire a CMO and get a CRM system."
