AMC Theatres Careers & Info

AMC Theatres Overview

AMC Entertainment, Inc. is the second largest movie theater chain in the US. They operate over 5,300 screens across the country under the name AMC Theaters. Although the majority of their business is done in America, they also have theaters located in the UK, France, Spain, Canada, and Hong Kong.

The company was founded in 1920 in Kansas City, Missouri. This is also where the current headquarters is located. It opened its first two-screen theater in 1963, a technological advance at the time. The realization that labor requirements peak at the beginning and end of the movie gave way to more practical uses of labor and resources. The ability to show more than one movie also gave options to consumers and increased revenue for the theater. Further capitalizing on this idea, AMC was the first to build a multiplex in North America in 1995.
