The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) is a U.S. defense research organization whose mission is to extend America's warfare capabilities through aerospace technology. Founded in 1997 at Wright Air Force Base as a consolidation of four separate laboratories, AFRL works closely with many divisions of the U.S. Department of Defense, including NASA and DARPA.
