"The HR department was a joke."

"There wasn't anything that I disliked."

"College job with tons of responsibilities where I learned a ton, under poor upper management however."

What do you like about working at Ace Hardware?

"It was an environment where a self motivated person like myself could excel and more importantly where it showed. I moved from a cashier to a management position very quickly because I put out the efforts that were noticed by the upper management. It also allowed me to partake in many management decisions like inventory management, HR decisions, and employee training; all of which where I learned a ton while getting my business degree."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Prepare yourself for anything and everything. If you perform well at your job and look to advance there, you will most likely move up quickly, however the ceiling may not be as high as you may hope. All in all it is a good workplace and one where you can learn a ton."

What don't you like about working at Ace Hardware?

"The upper management was almost non-existent and there was no communication there. It seemed as if we were fighting against ourselves rather than working together to try and excel."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Have a better structure in place to where there is far less turnover and a lot more efficiency."

"A lot of turnover at this facility both hourly and salary level. Not a good place to work."

What do you like about working at Ace Hardware?

"I enjoyed working with my supervisor co-workers. We had a strong rapport and worked well together to accomplish our goals. Their is a lot of support for each other at the mid-managerial level."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Understand that you are interviewing with a company that is lost in it's own culture. There is not much room for outside of the box thinking. Do not expect to have any autonomy and be prepared for micro-management."

What don't you like about working at Ace Hardware?

"The way we were treated by Senior Management. Very unprofessional and degrading to their direct reports. They do not respect their employees, hence the constant turnover."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Understand that the people who work for you are your most important asset. Treat them the way you expect to be treated and they will want to do a good job for you."

"Ace Hardware is a great company to work for not only for the compensation plan but the culture and people I worked with."

"Ace sets high expectations as to how its warehouse team members are motivated and treated. Be prepared to describe and discuss your management style."

"Somewhat slow to adopt new technology within the Distribution Centers."

"Continue to change and implement new technologies."

"Selfish and stupid management, lack of respect, care, and involvement from owners and management, VERY low wage ($10.50 for CDL driver!!), lack of sufficient amount of restrooms, lack of good building."

"Love your neighbor as yourself."

What do you like about working at Ace Hardware?

"Family friendly. If you need to leave early, they are great about it. Not expected to stay late if you accomplish your work. Corporate culture is good. Demands made on you are low."

"It takes a long time to get a call back. This is basically a non-profit corp, so things move at a slow speed."

What don't you like about working at Ace Hardware?

"No onsite gym. Cafeterial food sucks! But really, it's a pretty good place. You could do A LOT worse."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"More giveaways- we have so much product and samples around the office, it would be great to be able to take something home once in a while. Should be casual dress code everyday, not just on Friday. Should also let you work from home @ least one day a week."
